Hand-printed Woodblock Print of Sea Bream in the Early Morning

This is a self-portrait, a self-portrait, a self-portrait of YEN, a woodblock print of his own making.
It depicts a sea bream swimming powerfully in the currents of the Seto Inland Sea.
It is a familiar motif to the artist. It is an indescribable feeling to wake up at 4 a.m. on a Sunday in early spring, set sail on a friend's boat before sunrise, drop a lure on a sea bream that becomes active at dawn, slowly reel it in ten times or more, and catch the first fish of the morning.
The eyes, nose, and body of the sea bream, the king of the Seto Inland Sea, are glittering with effect pigments that reflect blue depending on the angle of view.
The work is made of 100% Kozo (paper mulberry) handmade paper from Echizen, which gives it a soft texture.
In the framed photograph, the acrylic panel has been removed for photography.
The woodblock print in the framed photo is a framed composite image.
Due to the fact that most of the printing process is done by hand and natural materials are used, the finished product may differ from the photo on the website even if it is the same product.
